​Born in New York, world-renowned artist Ira Ono came to Hawaii on vacation in 1968 and never left.
​
Perhaps best known for his highly imaginative 3-D montages created from recycled materials, Ono is also an accomplished painter, mask-maker, poet, dancer, and gourmet chef. 

He created Volcano Garden Arts from a vision he had of a place where people involved in all the arts could come to be inspired and create work in this amazing landscape.
